Getting started

stub
This page hasn’t been written yet.

It exists so links and search lead somewhere. Below is what it will cover, and where the answer lives until then.

It waits on a production Docker Compose for self-hosting. Today the only install is a development one, from a clone of the repository.

  • Installing the server: one image plus PostgreSQL
  • Creating the first account
  • Connecting GitHub
  • Registering a runner
  • Creating a project
  • Filing the first ticket

These parts are already true:

  • The server is one image plus PostgreSQL. The image serves the web UI, runs its database migrations before it listens, and has a healthcheck.
  • The first person to open Pitwall creates the first account at /setup. Everyone after joins by invitation: see Users and sign-in.
  • A runner is registered from Runners → Register runner, which shows the command that installs it: see Runners.
  • GitHub is connected through a GitHub App of your own: see Connecting GitHub.
  • A project is created from New project: from a tech spec (Pitwall creates the repository from your runner, which needs gh logged in), from a repository that already holds one, or from an existing repository. See Creating a project.

If you know this part of Pitwall, your notes are the best starting point.
